Fines, Fees, and Loan Periods

The Flossmoor Library is Fine Free!

Here is what you need to know:

• • All items except equipment (WiFi hotspots, iPad technology kits and items from the Inspiration Station) will be fine-free for Flossmoor Residents.
  • Fine Free applies only to Flossmoor residents who check out from the Flossmoor Library.
  • Cardholders who have more than three items overdue at any one time will have their borrowing privileges blocked until items are paid for or returned.
  • After an item’s due date, patrons will have 42 days to return items before having to pay for its replacement cost. During that time overdue fines will not be charged.
  • All cardholders are responsible for never returned or damaged items. Charges for never returned or damaged items are determined by the owning library.

There will be times when items cannot be renewed even though renewals are allowed. This may be because the item is overdue, has had too many renewals or because there is a hold waiting for that item.

Interlibrary Loan/Out-Of-State Request:

Overdue Fines for items borrowed at other SWAN libraries will be determined when checked in and will be subject to the charging library’s fine rate. Interlibrary Loan items requested by Flossmoor cardholders from outside the state of Illinois: $5.00 per request.

Lost or Damaged Materials:

Owning library must be contacted to determine replacement charge.

Charges For Lost Or Damaged Flossmoor Materials:

Books:
Cost + $5.00 reprocessing fee
Partial loss of accompanying materials found in books (e.g. compact discs, CD-ROMs, computer disks, etc.):  cost + $5.00 reprocessing fee

Non-Print Materials:
Partial or total replacement cost + $5.00 reprocessing fee

Booklet for compact discs and DVDs:
$3.00

Cases for CDs, DVDs, books on compact disc, Playaways and video games: 
$5.00

Magazines:
Cost + $5.00 reprocessing fee

Unabridged books on CD:
$8.00 per compact disc

R.A.I.L.S. Credit Bureau/Referral Charges:
Applies to reciprocal borrowers only. Reciprocal borrowers are residents of one community who check out materials at another library. After an item is 60 days overdue, the patron will be charged the full replacement cost and a Credit Bureau Fee.
