Wiggles and Giggles (Birth up to 36 months)

This 20-minute program is packed with music, rhymes, stories and activities appropriate for this age group.  Adults, be prepared to participate in this interactive program.  Registration is required and limited. Register for the one day of the week that works best for you and your child.

Alphabet Soup for 3s & 4s (5s if not in Kindergarten)

Through stories, rhymes and art, pre-readers will have oodles of fun getting to know the ABCs and reinforcing early literacy skills.  Registration is required and limited.

Not So Finicky Cafe (Ages 8 - 12)
2nd Tuesday of the Month, 3:45 - 4:45 pm

From Brown Bag Specials to Crazy Concoctions, you can learn a variety of cooking skills in a fun atmosphere with other kids who like to cook! Registration is required and limited.

American Girl Dolls Through History (Ages  7 - 12)
3rd Tuesday of the Month, 3:45 - 4:45 pm
September 21, October 19 and November 16
The Attic - Upper Level

Explore history through the eyes of the American Girl dolls.  Each session features one doll and various activities related to the period.  Registration is required and limited.

Book Buddies (K - 3rd Graders)
3rd Thursday of the Month, 3:45 - 4:45 pm
September 16, October 21 and November 18

Designed to create a relaxed environment where a child feels comfortable reading out loud, young readers are matched with teen volunteers to read aloud together, talk about the stories and share an activity.  Registration is required and limited.

Open Chess (Ages 7 & up)
3rd Friday of the Month, 3:45 - 4:45 pm
September 17
The Attic - Upper Level
Match wits with other chess players.  All levels welcome.  You may bring your own chess set or use one of ours!  No registration required.

Drop-In Craft (Preschool - 5th Graders)
Saturdays 3:00 - 4:00 pm
September 18 - November 27
The Attic - Upper Level

Make the library your destination on Saturday afternoons.  Drop by and create a cool craft, then check out books, movies and games for your family's evening entertainment.  No registration required.

Leaf Identification (Ages 9 & up; Parents are encouraged to attend.)

What's the name of this leaf?  Michelle O'Connor of ME4E gives a hands-on presentation of how to identify common leaves and trees.  Just in time for your leaf project!  Registration is required and limited.

Staley of the Chicago Bears (All Ages)
Thursday, September 30 at 7:00 pm

Chicago Bears mascot, Staley, is visiting the Flossmoor Public Library!  Bring your camera, have your picture taken with him and get his autograph.  Enter to win a t-shirt!  All school-aged children will be invited to sign up for Staley's "Tackle Reading Challenge." No registration required.

Back to School Help @ Flossmoor Public Library
Forgot your textbook...the library now carries Flossmoor District 161 and Infant Jesus of Prague School textbooks and workbooks for K - 8th graders. Textbooks and workbooks are for in-library use only.  For access you will need to present a library card or other form of ID. 

Professional tutors are available online at HomeworkHelpIL.com.  Go to flossmoorlibrary.org and click on Databases - Youth.  Tutors are available from 2 - 9 pm daily.  Remote access to HomeworkHelpIL.com requires a Flossmoor Public Library card.

Starting October 4, high school volunteers will be available to provide homework assistance to students in K - 7th grade on Monday through Thursday from 4:00 - 6:00 pm when Flossmoor District 161 is in session.
